This is Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972). He is one of the world's most famous graphic artists. I like one of his quotes: “I could fill an entire second life with working on my prints” http://www.mcescher.com/
Gestalt concept: “The whole is more important than its separate parts taken together.” The picture above illustrated just that. http://www.gestalttheory.com/
“Keen observation” is the main theme that I found in all three: Interactive Design movie, M.C. Escher’s work and Gestalt theory. I think one of the skills that a good designer/artist must have is observant, especially more critical for industrial designers because human’s brain works wonder. It always knows when things do not seem natural. This may be why the three questions were emphasized in the movie: How do you do…how do you feel…how do you know? However, exceptional people such as those featured in the movie, M.C. Escher and those introduced Gestalt concept, take us to their blended world between reality and fantasy. Without such people, we may think such world is impossible or we may not even think of it at all. I enjoyed the movie and this week assignment a lot!
